The parks Recreation Services Technician position’s primary purpose is to support public recreation operations at Georgia Power’s lakes in compliance with each lakes FERC license statewide. Protect and enhance Georgia Power’s land and water assets as it relates to regulatory, environmental, aesthetic, and recreational requirements. JOB SUMMARY Ensure compliance with the Natural Resource’s Park operation guidelines and other regulatory agency requirements such as FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) and EPD (Environmental Protection Division). Protect the company’s land and water assets physically, environmentally and from a regulatory standpoint. Promote quality use of the company’s land and water assets to enhance public relations. Support shoreline management permitting program and leasing program, as needed. The Recreation Services Technician is responsible for providing support in the management and general maintenance and upkeep of shoreline property, shoreline structures, boat ramps, roads and buildings located at GPC’s Public Recreation Facilities on 14 lakes and 40 plus recreation areas. JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required Two years of relevant work experience preferred. Strong computer skills and use of emerging technology. Working directly with customers and providing excellent service to every customer every day. Communication and interaction with public and governmental agencies. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations that apply to riparian buffers and shoreline development. Knowledge of water safety issues and training programs Ability to work independently and as a team player. Time management skills (planning / scheduling). Knowledge of facility maintenance and construction. Skills in using hand tools, mowers, pressure washers and operating heavy equipment including tractors used for scraping roads, hauling mulch, etc. Boating and navigation skills (must currently have or be willing to obtain a Boating Safety Certification) Entering / exiting boats. Walking on unlevel surfaces (forests, lake shoreline) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Twisting Obtain and maintain Georgia DOT card; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Buildings/grounds/piers/boat ramps maintenance, repairs, and upgrades Public recreation facilities Equipment maintenance Records management Support Shoreline Compliance as needed Maintain relationships with GRPA, local recreation entities, and GA State Parks. Support the Recreation program statewide by assisting in Safety Inspections monthly and Safety Audits Annually. Assist with whitewater release weekends working with generation, state parks, and boating volunteer coordinator.
