Description:

Floyd|Snider is looking to add a creative GIS Analyst to our collaborative team. We're looking for someone who exemplifies our commitment to technical excellence, environmental responsibility, and customer service.

Your primary role will be to create high-quality maps, figures, and data visualizations that illustrate key concepts, guide data interpretation, and support project conclusions. You'll also curate and manage spatial datasets, automate workflows, and integrate spatial data into our SQL Server database alongside chemical analytical results. Your work will directly support environmental remediation, restoration, and compliance efforts across a range of projects.

Here's our list of must-haves:

  • 3+ years' experience with Esri's ArcGIS products, including ArcPro and ArcMap
  • 2+ years' professional experience producing high-quality maps and graphics that effectively communicate complex project information for a variety of audiences
  • Strong cartographic or graphic design skills, with proven ability to use color, symbology, and annotation to convey a compelling visual narrative
  • Direct experience with geodatabases; feature digitization; data acquisition, cleaning, and documentation; spatial and attribute data management; and spatial analysis
  • Experience with GPS data collection and GNSS units for spatial data acquisition, including setting up, supporting, and maintaining field data collection workflows
  • Experience with automating workflows and analyses using scripts (Python preferred)
  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems, tidal and elevation datums, and experience with spatial data modeling, interpolations, and raster change calculations
  • Highly organized with an ability to juggle competing demands

Pay and Benefits

This is a full-time, permanent position. Candidates with 3 - 5 years of experience earn a salary between $78K - $86K annually. Those with 6+ years of experience earn a salary between $86K - $94K annually. We offer quarterly merit-based bonus opportunities, equity and ownership options, 401K, medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, long-term disability insurance, and life insurance. We also offer 11 paid holidays and 20 days of paid time off per year.

Floyd|Snider provides employees with a flexible work schedule that includes core hours from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Most staff are expected to work onsite 2 - 3 days per week, depending on their distance from the office.

Project work may require you to work more than your standard billable work week, but Floyd|Snider provides extra time off to recognize this effort. Regional travel is a small part of this role. You won't typically go more than 3 hours away, and we'll cover all your expenses.

The Details

The right candidate will have a mix of the following skills or experience:

  • Work experience or education in environmental sciences, especially experience organizing and querying chemistry and environmental data
  • Desire to work specifically in an environmentally focused practice, with an understanding or interest in learning about environmental and engineering practices
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Online, including configuring web applications for data exploration and visualization (Instant Apps, StoryMaps, Dashboard, Experience Builder) and field data collection (Field Maps, Survey123)
  • Familiarity with querying and managing data in relational databases, such as MS-Access and SQL Server, with some understanding of relational database design principles
  • Experience using AutoCAD, and with using and manipulating AutoCAD data within a GIS framework

Beyond your relevant experience, we're looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Attention to detail - You know that the little things matter, and that accuracy builds trust. Getting the details right allows your audience to focus on the key message.
  • Effective communication - You ask thoughtful questions to ensure your GIS work products enhance understanding of the project. You like working in a collaborative environment with a wide range of personality types and work styles.
  • Problem solving & passion for GIS - You are solution oriented and passionate about GIS. You're committed to continuous learning and enjoy exploring new tools and techniques through user forums, peer collaboration, or self-study.

You'll have the opportunity to work closely with GIS and technical staff to prioritize workload, discuss task completion methods, collaborate on tool development, and develop work products that speak to audiences with differing levels of technical knowledge. You'll also be able to participate in our Data Services and Professional Graphics groups, where we develop process improvements and explore data visualization strategies based on project needs and industry trends, so you'll be able to advance your skills and broaden your impact across projects.
