Overview

The Community Outreach Director of a market fully owns all marketing and outreach strategies in a multi-store function. They are responsible for working within the marketing budget and providing detailed feedback on the financial success of each event or campaign they manage. The person in this role is responsible for managing store Community Outreach Managers whose focus is on building relationships within our current running community as well as reaching new running and fitness communities in our surrounding area. This position supports the Operating Partner in retaining our customer base, achieving sales objectives, and acquiring new customers. This position allows you to work collaboratively with Store Leadership and Staff, various departments of the Fleet Feet Store Support Team, and the local community. The person in this role is also expected to work on the floor fitting customers weekly in order to maintain a connection to the customer experience, market to receive feedback from customers directly, and partner with colleagues to market upcoming events.

Responsibilities

Marketing and Outreach 

    Fully own the strategy and vision for marketing and community outreach and ensure alignment with the market’s business goals and objectives as set by the Operating PartnerCreate and activate strategies for new customer acquisitionDevelop and strengthen relationships with diverse community organizations, running groups, and other stakeholders 
    Partner with store leadership to identify local race events and build partnerships with race organizersCollaborate with store leadership to create and manage events and campaigns that drive in-store salesWork with store managers to appropriately staff and plan events to remain within the store’s marketing budgetRegularly collaborate with regional Marketing point of contact from Fleet Feet Store Support Team to ensure alignment with broader company objectivesAdhere to all Fleet Feet Brand Standards and Guidelines

Leadership/Management

    Fosters growth of others through recognition, mentoring, and development opportunitiesHas weekly one on one meetings with coordinatorsPromotes individual and team performance by setting expectations, delegating, and providing tools and resourcesBuilds and maintains trust from staff, customers, and the community by using good judgmentAbility to lead and direct others

Outfitting- required to work sales floor weekly 

    Regularly work floor shifts and serve customers using the most current Fleet Feet outfitting experienceCommunicate to all staff about upcoming events and ensure they are confident in marketing upcoming events to customersProvide support to the Retail Experience Manager during floor shifts and be a positive role model for coworkers

Qualifications

    5 + years community, marketing, outreach experience (retail preferred)Passion for Fleet Feet’s mission and the ability to effectively communicate the value that Fleet Feet adds to the communityOutstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external)Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make efficient decisions independently and collaborativelyFlexible and adaptable; Ability to work a flexible schedule which can include weekends and some holidaysWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva, and the GoogleSuiteExperience with Run Specialty or working within the running community experience Connections to the local communityProven success in grassroots marketing and community outreach experience (retail preferred)

Additional Requirements - Hours of work for this position are approximately 40+ hours per week.  Position requires moving around for periods of 2-4 hours without a rest break, and task sequencing and the completion of complex administrative responsibilities. Occasional moderate to heavy (10-25+lb) lifting and carrying, bending and reaching overhead may be required. Work environment includes substantial communication with customers, working in a retail environment with product displays and stockroom with inventory, and potentially slippery surfaces. Position is under minimum levels of day-to-day supervision. Some travel may be required for meetings, training or conferences.
