The North American Institutional Sales Team is responsible for driving growth across the MSIM platform, via the institutional asset owner channel, through the development of new relationships, the enhancement of existing relationships, and the application of a holistic and partnership-oriented approach to provide a best-in- client experience.
The Insurance Solutions team sits within the North American Institutional Sales team and is responsible for driving the sales strategy for insurance client relationships through a thoughtful analysis of the insurer’s balance sheet, operating results, and other company-specific considerations to determine which MSIM strategies may align well with the insurer’s objectives and risk preferences.
MSIM has a broad platform of strategies that appeal to insurance company objectives and includes insurance-friendly, capital-efficient investment vehicles across public and private markets including ETFs, private commingled funds, rated feeders, and fund of one/SMAs.
We are seeking an insurance-focused business development professional that has extensive experience in developing investment solutions for insurers with an emphasis on private market capabilities and expertise.
What you’ll do in the role
- Utilize your strong understanding of the insurance asset owner landscape to successfully drive results through deep relationship management across multiple decision makers and key constituents to deliver the full capabilities of MSIM’s investment platform.
- Collaborate with other members of the insurance solutions and consultant relations teams to drive engagement with insurers.
- Collaborate across the firm with other key business units that have insurance client connectivity including capital markets, investment banking, and wealth management.
- Participate in the development of new investment strategies, thought capital, and industry conference participation.
What you’ll bring to the role
You will possess a deep understanding of the typical insurance investor profile for the major lines of business (Life, Health, P&C, Reinsurer) as well as the nuances associated with varying ownership structures such as mutuals, privately-held, publicly-held, etc., and how those structures are impacted by insurance regulatory and accounting considerations.
- 15 plus years of insurance-focused business development experience.
- A commercial mindset, with excellent communication and relationship building skills, team-oriented and collaborative.
- A history of commercial success driving sales for private market strategies (private credit, private equity and/or real assets), and client engagement with North American insurance companies.
- Ability to work well under pressure including a proven ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- A problem-solver who demonstrates effective organization skills and follow-through.
- Results-oriented with a bias for action, and who embraces accountability.
- Ability to travel throughout the U.S.
- FINRA Series 7 and 63 required; Series 3 may be required.
- CFA/MBA preferred.

Wage Transparency Statement

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $250,000 and $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
