Costco’s Global Sustainability and Compliance team is responsible for ensuring that we are doing the right thing for our members, our employees, our suppliers, our shareholders, our communities and the environment while being mindful of our impact on our people and the world.
The Sustainability Data Analyst role supports our team’s effort to collect data, analyze data, and draw insights from the data to inform our sustainability and compliance strategies. This work is critical to measure our progress on all of our initiatives across sustainable operations, responsible sourcing, foods safety, non foods quality assurance, human rights, and trade & customs compliance. This work will be critical to enabling Costco to comply with legal reporting obligations as well as internal company reporting requirements for sustainability metrics. Furthermore, we will have the analysts actively participate in developing our broader data strategy for collection, verification, analysis, and reporting for the company – and be leaders in executing against this strategy.

ROLE
Designs, builds, and implements surveys for data collection in a coordinated effort with Costco’s buying teams
● Cleans and analyzes data to support decision-making
● Builds data models (when relevant) to model potential impact of various strategies
● Project manage data collection activities working with the buying teams on supplier-facing communications
● Supports report building / reporting in both formal (e.g., CDP Reporting) and informal (e.g., executive updates) capacities
● Participates in strategy development for data collection, verification, analysis, and reporting for all sustainability and compliance metrics for the company
● Supports select projects to optimize and automate different data collection and analytics efforts
● Becomes deeply immersed and aware of all aspects of our sustainability efforts
REQUIRED
● Excellent computer skills - fluency in Google Suite, MS Office.
● Excellent data analytics skills – fluency in MS Excel and Google Sheets
● Experience in working with Smartsheets and PowerBI
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Detail-oriented and highly organized.
● Ability to work in fast-paced environments and strong prioritization skills.
● Passion for topics in sustainability, environmental conservation, human rights, ethical sourcing.
Recommended
● Experience in working with Qualtrics
● Visual Basic, Java, C++, HTML, python coding is a plus.
● Experience in sustainability, supply chain, or sourcing is a plus.
● Good knowledge of Costco merchandising philosophy, buying, and warehouse operations.
● Positive, mature, professional attitude with strong organizational and time management skills.
● Ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
● Ability to articulate complex topics in a clear way, as well as to present, explain, and discuss them within all levels of the organization.
● High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Level 1 - $70,000 - $90,000
Level 2 - $85,000 - $100,000
Level 3 - $98,000 - $119,000
Level 4 - $115,000 - $140,000
