As the global industry leader in Artificial Lift Systems, Baker Hughes is looking for an Embedded firmware engineer for the research and technology development team. The engineer will develop firmware to control components & systems, to optimize performance of Artificial Lift systems. The Engineer will support and lead R&D projects to push the boundaries of Artificial Lift Technology Systems and address critical gaps.

Responsibilities of Embedded Firmware Engineer:

  • Develop and deploy analytics, automation, and visualization solutions to address customer needs working with external/internal customers, engineers, and data scientists
  • Work in technical teams in development, deployment, and application of embedded software systems.
  • Generate reports, annotated code, and other project artifacts to document, archive, and communicate the work and outcomes.
  • Design software solutions for edge computing devices that enable communication and data processing from a wide array of input sources.
  • Develop human-machine interfaces that allow visualization of time sequenced data streams.
  • Develop machine-machine interfaces that enable cooperation between equipment typically found in the oil field.
  • Implement test software on commercially available single board computing systems to demonstrate technical capabilities of analytics, automation, monitoring solutions, etc.
  • Evaluate conventional methodologies and develop new tools to streamline analysis and develop screening methods to make available to broader team.
  • Act as the project manager for the R&D projects and be able to prepare estimated project timeline and budget.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments with appropriate abatement plans.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer engineering degrees or higher, from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience w/ firmware or software development.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in coding in languages including but not limited to C, C++, C#, python.
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols including TCP/IP.
  • Experience in designing and/or utilizing data processing.
  • Must be willing to travel, 15% domestically
  • Experience with HMI development, preferred
  • Experience developing and debugging code for embedded computing systems, preferred
