Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector seeking an experienced and skilled Tier 3 Cyber System Administrator with a strong background in cybersecurity to join our IT team. This position supports a unique Joint Staff capability supporting the installation, integration, testing, evaluation, and synchronization of simulations and gaming tools used in future immersive training capabilities for Joint Training Exercises and Experiments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the advanced administration, management, and support of our organization's IT systems and infrastructure, while also playing a key role in maintaining and enhancing our cybersecurity posture. This role requires a deep technical expertise in systems administration, along with significant experience in addressing and mitigating security threats.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities of the Tier 3 Cyber System Administrator will include, but not limited to:

Systems Administration:
• Administer and maintain complex server and network environments including Windows, Linux, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Implement, configure, and troubleshoot advanced network and system hardware and software.
• Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades as necessary.
• Monitor system performance and ensure high levels of availability and security.


Cybersecurity:
• Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect the organization's data and IT infrastructure.
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and address potential threats.
• Manage and respond to security incidents, including analysis, containment, and remediation.
• Implement and maintain advanced security solutions such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint protection.
• Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies.


Troubleshooting and Support:
• Provide Tier 3 support for complex system and network issues escalated from lower support tiers.
• Analyze and resolve advanced technical issues related to servers, storage, network infrastructure, and security.
• Work closely with other IT team members to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.


Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and security protocols.
• Generate and review reports related to system performance, security incidents, and compliance.


Project Involvement:
• Participate in IT projects related to system upgrades, new deployments, and cybersecurity initiatives.
• Provide technical expertise and recommendations to enhance system architecture and security posture.

Basic Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in systems administration, with a focus on advanced troubleshooting and support. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirements. (Combined total of minimum of 11 years between education and relevant experience).
• Significant experience in cybersecurity, including incident response, vulnerability management, and security best practices.


Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewall configurations).
• Experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus solutions).
• Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for system management and security tasks.


Certifications:
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH.
• US Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualification to include Skills and Abilities:

• Operating System (OS) Training Certificate or Certifications such as any Microsoft Windows, Linux, MacOs, Unix, or VMware.
• Certifications related to systems administration (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware VCP).
• Knowledge of Modeling and Simulations Systems used by DoD.
• Military background and understanding of Military Training Objectives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex issues.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and projects.
Salary Range: $109,900 - $164,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
