About Telling It:
Telling It is a community-based expressive arts program that creates safe, judgment-free spaces using trauma-informed and culturally sensitive methods to foster emotional processing and personal empowerment. We partner with community sites in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor to offer weekly programs for youth and adults. Telling It is a program in the LSA Residential College. Overview of Position:
We are adding a Lead Artist position to Telling It's primary staff team. We are looking for candidates who want to work in a lively environment with a program that supports social emotional learning using creative nontraditional practices. You will recruit and oversee resident and visiting artists and plan weekly program sessions that you lead at community sites. You will report to the Telling It Director.

Responsibilities*
- Train and oversee a team of staff, college interns and volunteers.
- Develop and facilitate trauma-informed expressive arts-based sessions for youth at multiple sites.
- Recruit, train and oversee resident and visiting artists who contribute their arts discipline in specialized Telling It sessions.
- Oversee an anthology of the writing and artwork generated throughout the academic year.
- Participate in staff and intern training sessions as a member of the training team.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience
- 2+ years of experience in arts-based practices with youth.
- 2+ years of experience building professional relationships.
- 1+ years of experience leading teams.
- Success working with a diverse group which may include diversity in race, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, gender identity and ability
- Familiarity with office software.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Additional Information
- This is a term-limited position, ending on 9/30/25, with possibility for renewal depending on funding.
- This position includes a seasonal leave in July.
- The salary range reflects the full-time rate. The range for this half-time position is $23,200 to $29,000 annually (a full time rate of $46,400 to $58,000). A higher salary is possible based on equity and experience.
- This is a hybrid position, with most work performed on-site at Telling It programs and some opportunities for remote work.
