As a Mechanical and System Design Domain Manager, you will lead, support, and guide a global organization in the development and innovation of new products in the area of mechanical and system design. You will oversee design standards, technical mentorship, and the development of best practices across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals. You will be the ultimate technical authority in internal design reviews and product development stage gates in the subject area.
In this role, you will also be responsible for:
- Defining and implementing strategic initiatives for mechanical and systems design across global teams, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and project timelines.
- Establishing and maintaining design standards and practices to drive consistency, quality, and safety across product lines.
- Leading and mentoring a worldwide team of mechanical and systems engineers
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Guiding team members in skill development and career growth, providing training opportunities and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Collaborating with project managers and other domain managers to ensure timely and efficient project execution - addressing technical challenges and risk mitigation.
- Overseeing project milestones, from concept through to prototyping and testing, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.
- Acting as a key liaison between engineering teams, product management, and executive leadership, ensuring effective communication and alignment on project goals.
- Driving innovation by identifying new technologies, tools, and methodologies that can enhance product design and functionality.
- Developing and documenting best practices for mechanical and system design processes, facilitating knowledge sharing across global teams.
- Ensuring all designs comply with regulatory standards and industry best practices, particularly in safety-critical applications within the oil services sector.
- Implementing quality assurance measures and lead the review of design processes to minimize errors and enhance product reliability.
- Coordinating with compliance teams to conduct audits and inspections, addressing any findings with corrective action plans.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical or System Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or PhD is highly desirable.
- 15+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry with a focus on design of downhole complex electro-mechanical systems.
- A deep understanding of electro-mechanical systems design, including design for reliability and manufacturing.
- A proven track record of leading teams and projects in a complex, multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- The ability to think strategically and solve complex technical and operational challenges.
- Preferably have a Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant certifications are a plus.
