Responsibilities*
- Examine stock to verify conformance to purchase order specifications.
- Operate mechanical or hydraulic lift trucks and other motor vehicles.
- Deliver stock to requisitioning unit by motor vehicles.
- Assemble, inspect, adjust and repair articles in stock such as laboratory equipment or tools by performing such duties as replacing cords or tightening screws.
- Receive cash payments, prepare receipts and balance out cash drawers.
- Determine nature and extent of damage to stock and take initial steps in preparation of a damage claim.
- Reconcile stock shortages and verify inventory, including the preparation of records of inventory transactions.
- Advise customers regarding stock choice based on availability and unit requirements, and recommend substitute items.
- Participate in inventory control procedures and perform physical inventory of stock items.
- Maintain demurrage records.
- Receive merchandise and verify bills of lading or packing lists from vendors and report discrepancies to a designated authority.
- Identify stock by using codes and item numbers.
- Package for shipment all types of stock and equipment.
- Load and unload stock from railway cars or motor vehicles.
- Clean assigned area of work and equipment.
- Process internal stock orders.
- Inspect items for damage and completeness.
- Record items received, dispensed or returned and perform item counts.
Required Qualifications*

- High school diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities such as, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, etc.

Work Schedule
Standard hours:20hrs
Work days/times: Saturday-Sunday 6:00am-2:00pm and Monday 6:00am-10:00am
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the AFSCME union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
