Summary of the Role: NFP Atlanta is seeking a Medical Underwriter who will coordinate the marketing and placement of employee benefit programs for clients and prospects, prepare and present RFP’s to carriers, negotiates to secure coverage and selects and recommends quotes that meet client needs. Prepares marketing summary for client proposals. Works closely with client management teams to identify client objectives and find best solutions. Keeps teams informed of market trends and products. Maintains strong relationships with key carriers.
This team member will also assist with benefit administration technology project management for open enrollment and renewals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides coverage/program design to teams through regular discussion and meetings
- Participates in meetings and contributes marketing knowledge in discussion of new business and renewal opportunities and new products
- Prepares RFP’s and submits to carriers; Reviews quotes from carriers and creates/maintains coverage comparison; prepares marketing proposal, medical claim projections and recommends client options to meet client objectives
- Negotiates with the carrier for the best program for clients.
- Develops and maintains relationships with key carriers
- Assists in client meetings and prospect meetings as needed
- Updates and maintains monthly experience reports (dashboard reports) in Excel, for specified clients
- Act as Team Lead for Marketing/Placement Staff
- Facilitate the organization of ben admin renewals
- Develop and track timelines
- Follow up with Account Management team to ensure timelines are met
- Track eligibility files- source and delivery
- Assist with benefits administration enrollment site testing
- Log and track service tickets

- Multi-Tasking – Efficiently organize work and manage time in order to meet deadlines and remain on task with designated timelines.
Education and/or Experience:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Self funding experience
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Account/Project Management: 3 years
- Bachelor’s Degree or 4+ years of equivalent work experience
