Position Description
This role will be on a 33‐person accounting team responsible for the tax compliance and financial accounting of more than 850 legal entities including individuals, trusts, and flow‐through entities. Responsibilities include the preparation of Federal and State tax returns, and active participation in all aspects of the year‐round compliance and financial accounting processes. This role will have a focus in the “special entities” group within the Accounting team, which manages the tax compliance and financial accounting activities for roughly 130 flow‐through entities (LLCs, Partnerships, S‐Corps, and Foundations).
Responsibilities
- Strong contributor to tax compliance cycle - prepare and/or review Federal and State income tax returns with a primary emphasis on 1065s and active participation in end-to-end tax compliance process including ownership of books and records and financial accounting responsibilities.
- Willingness to flex into different roles, assignments, entity types, and industries.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate concepts to the larger team. Growing ability to teach/train others in areas of expertise.
- Exhibits high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage workload/deadlines and take ownership of own workflow planning and deadline planning and management.
- Desire to participate and lead process improvement initiatives and critical processes in the accounting cycle.
- Participate in the creation and/or management of tools designed to support productivity and quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; Master's degree in accounting or taxation preferred.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Minimally 4 years of relevant experience at a public account firm or comparable organization.
- Strong tax technical skills. Emphasis on 1065s. Experience with 1040s and 1041s also beneficial.
- Strong analytical skills and systems experience. Proficiency with tax prep software (preferably
- CCH Axcess), Excel, and other accounting systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
