BAE Systems is seeking a Space RF Mission Chief Engineer to support strategic programs across our Space Systems product line. In this role, the Chief Engineer is responsible for defining and executing the trades and analyses that result in a hardware baseline, software baseline, and concept of operations, that fulfill customer requirements within a constrained budget. The Chief Engineer works across the product lifecycle, including architecture development, trades, requirements analysis, concepts of operation, interfaces, hardware design, software design, integration, validation, and verification. This role will specifically involve leading teams of space microelectronics and space software experts to build space RF mission systems. Expertise in both space RF signal acquisition & processing and space microelectronics design & realization are required.

The successful candidate will work on space RF signal acquisition and processing systems ranging from programs of record to laboratory demonstrations. They will work with engineering, manufacturing, and management, to deliver high-performance systems within cost and schedule constraints. They will also be responsible for working with business development and leadership to provide input and engineering insight into next-generation technologies and architectures. They will support the business strategy and roadmap, while nurturing talent and growing engineering expertise.

Key responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain space RF mission system architectures ranging in scope from full signal chain to payload or module elements
* Understand and communicate customer requirements at the mission level with the customer.
* Lead teams that decompose mission level requirements into specific, measurable, and testable space electronics hardware and software requirements
* Understand and communicate space electronics hardware and software requirements at the engineering level with design teams.
* Develop major system level interfaces, system requirements, and verification as documented in specifications, ICDs, and verification plans.
* Lead teams that perform mission-level analyses including Probability of intercept, Signal identification, Instantaneous bandwidth, Spur free dynamic range, Sensitivity, Simultaneous capacity, Post-detection processing, Channelization, Parameter Measurement, and Interference mitigation
* Lead teams that rapidly assess conceptual designs, develop solutions, and establish system requirements and performance parameters.
* Communicate results to program management and customers.
* Mentor and technically assist other engineers.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed fulltime on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience designing space RF mission systems at multiple levels (Enterprise, Constellation, Spacecraft, Subsystem, Box, Module, Component)
- Experience with space electronics design and realization
- Experience performing requirements decomposition from space RF mission level to space electronics hardware and software
- Experience conducting mission analysis for space RF signal acquisition and processing systems, including RF Geolocation techniques, end-to-end performance analyses, mission signal environments, Radar, and/or Communications
- Experience with the full systems engineering life-cycle to include requirements definition, architecture, detailed design, test, deployment, and training
- Experience with detailed hardware and software design, trades, and application to a system definition
- Experience defining component-, subsystem-, and system-level requirements
- Experience crafting technical strategies, approaches, or architectures supporting business development and program growth efforts
- Experience in assuming responsibilities outside the scope of defined tasking
- Experience building positive customer relationships
- Experience working in multi-functional teams
- 12+ years relevant experience in network HW/SW/Systems development
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering or scientific field


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Working experience with Systems Markup Language and Model-Based Systems Engineering tools
- Experience with US government customer programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
- Demonstrated ability as a team player to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships with team members
- Effectively manage change
- Electrical/RF engineering background
- Active SCI clearance


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $147300 - $250400

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
