A Brief Overview
This role reports to the Associate Vice President (AVP), Principal Gifts and is responsible for expanding philanthropic support from high-net-worth individuals and family foundations and securing new commitments of $5M+ on behalf of the hospital. This position will integrate efforts among hospital and Foundation leaders to comprehensively identify, engage and solicit individuals, grateful families, and philanthropic organizations who have the potential to provide significant philanthropic support for hospital priorities. The individual will personally manage a portfolio of grateful families and nonaffiliated philanthropists to articulate the case for support for the hospital as a whole and structure giving opportunities based on their interests. The ideal candidate will have a sophisticated understanding of how to align a donor's interests with the aspirational goals of the institution, as well as experience working in structuring gifts that involve complex assets, multiple family members and donors who have transformational capacity. This role will be a key contributor to the success of the hospital's next comprehensive campaign.

What you will do

Manage a select portfolio of donors who have capacity to make gifts of $5 million or more, particularly those with multiple interests across the Hospital.
Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts.
Devote 30-40 percent of time on traveling throughout the Philadelphia region and beyond to establish new relationships with prospective donors.
Develop moves management strategies for principal giving donors and prospective donors, involving volunteers, board members, and hospital leadership as appropriate. Collaborate with Donor Relations to steward Chairman's Circle donors.
Work in concert with clinical and regional-based staff to develop new programs, initiatives, and highly curated events aimed at increasing the number of donors and prospective donors entering the principal gifts pipeline. Develop strategies to move new prospects into the $5M+ category.
Align prospective principal gifts donors with volunteer leadership opportunities, committees, activities, and/or events that are appropriate to their interests or potential interests, refining or enhancing their CHOP-related activities over time to move them toward solicitation.
Drive and manage strategic, consistent, personalized engagement with donors and prospective donors, including meaningful interactions involving the President and CEO and the Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer.
Personally staff select donor visits involving senior leaders as appropriate in their principal gift-related activities. Exercise sound judgment and efficiently communicate prospect strategies when involving administrative or board leaders.
Ensure high-quality, individualized, and meaningful stewardship of principal gift donors, including coordination with colleagues throughout the Hospital and/or Foundation as needed, ensuring that these activities are commensurate to the reach and impact of such gifts.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree Required

Experience Qualifications

At least ten (10) years of fundraising, development or sales experience Required
At least five (5) years of leadership, management or supervisory experience Required
At least ten (10) years of fundraising experience in a healthcare or academic related environment including high-potential ($1M+) gifts Preferred
