POSITION TITLE: Senior Accounting Analyst
REPORTS TO: Assistant Controller, Controller, Vice President of Finance
STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt, Hybrid
SALARY RANGE: $72,000-$85,000
SUMMARY: Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School (BLS) is a distinguished, independent law school located in Brooklyn Heights, New York. The Law School is searching for a Senior Accounting Analyst to support the Vice President of Finance, the Controller, and Assistant Controller on finance-related projects and tasks. Responsibilities include:
- Perform, analyze, review and report on financial monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
- Ensure adherence to internal control standards, policies and procedures.
- Review certain financial data on a quarterly basis and consult with management
- Create financial reports using various reporting systems
- Assist with the review process of the payment of invoices.
- Fulfill banking responsibilities to support day-to-day operations.
- Assist with the performance, analysis, and review pre- and post-payroll bi-weekly runs to ensure accuracy.
- Assists with investment accounting, analysis and review.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Manage and report on budgets for the Student Bar Association (SBA) and Student Organizations in accordance with internal and external reporting needs.
- Assist with the coordination and completion of annual audits and reviewing financial reports/support, as necessary.
- Work on special projects as directed by the Assistant Controller, Controller, Vice President of Finance.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Five years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Robust financial analytical skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Highly skilled in the use of Excel spreadsheets, data analysis, and visualization, with the ability to create complex formulas, pivot tables, etc.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal correspondence.
- Experience with ERP systems (Colleague a plus) and database management.
- Aptitude for understanding information system structures and building reports.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks.
Preferred:
- Experience in Higher Education or Not-for-Profit is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to Not-for-Profits or Higher Education.
- Audit experience with an accounting firm is a plus.
