Full Job Description
Strategic Education Inc. (SEI) is looking for a talented and passionate IT Release Manager. This role will be responsible for managing the release of software and system updates, working closely with development, testing, operations, and project management teams to ensure successful and smooth deployments. This role involves coordinating multiple teams, managing risks, and continuously improving the release management process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Release Planning & Scheduling:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders (App Development teams, Infrastructure teams, etc.) to plan, coordinate, and manage software releases.
    • Define release schedules and coordinate release activities across multiple teams and applications.
    • Establish and manage release timelines, ensuring adherence to business calendars.
    • Stakeholder Coordination:

      • Work with product owners, development teams, and external vendors to manage and communicate release readiness.
      • Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear communication.
    • Risk Management & Issue Resolution:

      • Identify potential risks and issues in the release process and develop mitigation strategies.
      • Monitor and address issues that arise during the release process, ensuring timely resolution.
    • Environment Management:

      • Coordinate with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure the availability and readiness of environments for testing and production deployment.
      • Ensure that all required environments are configured and available for testing and final deployment.
    • Continuous Improvement:

      • Continuously assess and improve the release process to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
      • Implement automation and tooling to streamline release management processes.
    • Change & Release Management:

      • Manage all aspects of the end-to-end release process.
      • Facilitate the change control process and ensure proper documentation for each release.
      • Ensure compliance with release management processes, including post-implementation reviews.
    • Documentation & Reporting:

      • Maintain detailed documentation of release processes, timelines, and post-release metrics.
      • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on the progress of releases.

      • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
      • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, etc).
      • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools.
      • Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

      Work Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
      • 5+ years of experience in IT release management or related roles.
      • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and ITIL processes.
      • Experience with release automation and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker).
      • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).
      • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
      • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
      • Experience working in Agile/Scrum or DevOps environments is a plus.

      Other:

      • Must be able to travel 10% of time.
      • Must be able to lift 15lbs.
      • Typical office setting.
      • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
      • Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
      • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant
      • Access information using a computer.
      • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
      • Effectively cope with stressful situations
      • Strong mental acuity
      • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
      • Other essential functions and marginal job functions are subject to modification.

      $116,300.00 - $174,500.00 - Salary
