The position of Registered Nurse provides support with psychiatric medication management, health and wellness assessment and education, along with managing referrals for medical/dental care. The RN works with the EASA and ACT teams, adheres to the fidelity of each program, and supports the practice of the LMP and Adapt Mental Health staff to meet the needs of the clients.Assess patient health problems and needs throughout their treatment. Develop and implement nursing care plans and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to patients and advise on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. The position will supervise medical staff and assist in treatment by also monitoring vital signs, dispense medication at the correct times, report to the medical staff concerns, and provide top notch customer service.Position contacts will include psychiatric patients- many with co-occurring substance use disorders, physicians, pharmacists, case managers, program managers, psychotherapists, hospitals, insurance agencies, and laboratories to perform nursing liaison duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the medication system, administer, and document medication treatment
- Communicate and coordinate services with the other medical providers
- Engage in health promotion, prevention, and education activities (i.e., assess for risky behaviors and attempt behavior change)
- Conduct home and community visits
- Educate other team members to help them monitor psychiatric symptoms and medication side effects
- Develop strategies to maximize the taking of medications as prescribed (e.g., behavioral tailoring, development of individual cues and reminders)
- Engage in health promotion, prevention, and education activities (i.e., assess for risky behaviors and attempt behavior change)
- Screen and monitor consumers for medical problems/side effects
- Refer client to other health resources as needed; collaborate with community health, community partners and agencies to promote the overall well-being of Mental Health clients.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Oregon with no restrictions, 2-year experience in acute care, critical care, emergency room or correctional health care setting preferred. CPR, First Aide, AED, Universal Precaution experience a must.
Preferred
- Thorough knowledge of psychological/psychosocial theory, principles, and practices of mental health treatment
- Thorough knowledge of human behavior/development as it relates to crisis situations and problems of client population.
- Thorough knowledge of behavior intervention, management and support strategies and principles.
- Working knowledge of psychoactive medication and treatment applications.
