We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Cyber Security Systems Engineer or Senior Principal Cyber Security Systems Engineer based out of San Antonio, Texas.
What You'll get to Do:

• Provide operations and sustainment for current and future platform baselines and associated continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline activities including Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to operational cyber systems.

• Tier 2: solve basic technical problems, investigate elevated issues, seek solutions related to the problem. Prioritize the support/troubleshooting processes and effectively manage system sustainment.

• Tier 3: expert level troubleshooting and in-depth analysis.


• Provide subject matter expertise in their fields and implement limited research and development of solutions to new, unknown, or unforeseen issues. Design and develop courses of action, evaluating each COA in a test case environment, and implement the best solution to the problem until a permanent solution can be delivered.

• Maintain the continued operations of all production systems and the associating support infrastructure by performing technical tasks as prioritized by the customer and scheduled by the contractor technical leads. Work is performed following an agile process for planning and execution.

• Assist with the design and develop system security architectures.

• Assist with the definition of key capabilities and performance requirements.

• Develop an understanding of system interfaces and how to protect them.

• Assist with ensuring the product requirements integrate into the total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

• Develop modifications to existing products to meet unique customer needs, and supports/leads the development of system security functions.

• Support technical work products developed by the larger engineering team, supporting design reviews and integration and test activities as needed.

• Present solutions to customers and senior management using tailored material based on the audience.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Cyber Security Systems Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM or related discipline with 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree in a STEM or related discipline with 3 years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. in a STEM or related discipline with 0 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering, Security Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical fields; Will consider 9 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement.

• U.S. Citizenship is required

• A current/active DoD Top Secret clearance

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret / SCI clearance is required.

• Experience with requirements development, derivation, system integration & test and validation and verification.

• DOD 8570 certification at or exceeding IASAE level 2 (CASP+, CISSP, or CSSLP)

• Configure, develop, deploy and maintain Red Hat Linux and Apache virtual servers using the command line in a highly secure environment

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Cyber Security Systems Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM or related discipline with 9 years of relevant experience; a Master's degree in a STEM or related discipline with 7 years of relevant experience; or a PhD in a STEM or related discipline with 4 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering, Security Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical fields; Will consider 13 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement.

• U.S. Citizenship is required

• A current/active DoD Top Secret clearance

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret / SCI clearance is required.

• Experience with requirements development, derivation, system integration & test and validation and verification.

• DOD 8570 certification at or exceeding IASAE level 2 (CASP+, CISSP, or CSSLP)

• Configure, develop, deploy and maintain Red Hat Linux and Apache virtual servers using the command line in a highly secure environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degrees in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

• Experience in technical leadership role(s).

• Troubleshoot virtual network issues, including firewall configuration, and resolve issues accordingly

• Assess DoD Information Systems against the RMF security controls IAW DoDI 8500, DoDI 8510 and NIST SP 800-53

• Possess one or more active cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CASP+, GSLC, CSSLP, or other credentials relevant to this position

• Experience working on a cross-discipline team and within a geographically distributed team.

• Experience working with Government agencies.

• Experience with the Risk Management Framework process.

• Experience with the DoD system accreditation process and/or the Software Certificate To Field process.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience contributing to and/or making technical presentations to internal and external customers.

• Ability to travel occasionally CONUS (at least 10%).

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
