We are looking for a highly skilled Photographer and Digital Media Producer to represent the University of Michigan Medical School as part of Michigan Medicine?s Department of Communication creative services team. This position will report directly to the U-M Medical School Communication Director to support the academic and research mission and have a matrixed role to the Department of Communication Associate Director of Creative Services for daily responsibilities.

The school has a 174-year history of creating innovative programs designed to train the next generation of leaders in medicine, science and other emerging health professions.
The Photographer and Digital Media Producer will be focused on creating photography, vertical videos, and other digital assets that showcase the breadth and depth of educational programs and groundbreaking research, along with highlighting our faculty, learners, staff and academic culture within the U-M Medical School. Successful candidates must be imaginative, versatile, adaptable, quick-thinking, enthusiastic, creative and team-oriented, with strong communications skills and a sense of design. This role will have to manage multiple projects at a time within a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will have a demo reel or portfolio showcasing their creativity and quality of work.
Responsibilities*
- Provide portrait photoshoots to faculty and leaders on location and as scheduled studio sessions.
- Collaborate closely with the communications team to identify photographic opportunities to promote research, education and medical school priorities.
- Capture well-composed still photographs in locations across the Michigan Medicine and University of Michigan campus to be used on a variety of internal and external channels.
- Photograph a variety of small- and large-scale events.
- Create videos, photos and other visual assets for social media campaigns.
- Collaborate with members of the creative services and medical school teams to optimize creative direction of visual branding efforts and other multimedia projects.
- Maintain knowledge of current best practices and be continuously following and studying trends.
- Manage the entire process of photo production, including: all pre-production scheduling, production, post-production, editing, color correction, file management, etc.
- Maintain photo archives and contribute to the management of digital assets.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in fine arts, communication or related field or at least 3-5 years of experience as a photographer, videographer, digital media producer or related role.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently on concurrent projects and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal staff and outside partners/vendors.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with daily deadlines.
- Collaborative approach to work with a positive, upbeat, professional and responsible attitude.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrable proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Audition).
Desired Qualifications*
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Significant technical knowledge of camera equipment
- Demonstrated ability to capture high quality images for marketing and social media campaigns
- Experience with digital asset management systems
- General familiarity and experience with streaming software and social media platforms
- Experience in video production and editing
Work Schedule
Core business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional nights and weekends are required.
Modes of Work

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
