As a Substitute Instructor of Software Engineering at Hackbright Academy, you will be instrumental in teaching and guiding students through their learning experience. You will be expected to work closely with education staff and leadership to review, critique, and help students with project work. The Substitute Instructor will also ensure that students understand what they should be working on, accomplishing their learning goals, and are understanding concepts taught in the curriculum.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with education team to create, improve, and audit all curriculum and the related Github repositories
- Deliver and facilitate course content
- Lead in-class exercises, project time, and participate in lecture discussions
- Ensure quality and that the correct principles are being learned and applied
- Participate in regular student reviews and critiques
- Inspire students to move through the challenges of learning a new skill set
- Work alongside any other instructional staff to best meet the needs and learning styles of students
- Provide students with meaningful and prompt feedback on their progress
Job Skills:
- Has the ability to facilitate an engaging lecture
- Experience creating technical curriculum
- Skilled in all languages, frameworks, and other technologies within curricula, including full-stack web development, C#, .NET, Object Oriented Programming (OOP), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, SQL, PostgreSQL database, Restful APIs, Entity Framework ORM, Azure Cloud, Testing & Version Control
- Is a proactive communicator, strives to be articulate in their speech towards students
- Ability to give and take constructive feedback
- Industry familiarity with related technologies and tools
- Experience delivering lectures and lab exercises
- Able to learn on the fly
Work Experience:

Work Experience:
- 2+ years in a technical engineering position
- 6+ months in education position
Education:
- Self-taught developer, Bootcamp graduate, or equivalent degree
Other:
- Must be able to teach on-site in Deerfield Beach, FL weekdays on an as-needed, substitute basis
- Typical office/classroom setting
- Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor
- Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant
- Access information using a computer
- Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain
- Effectively cope with stressful situations
- Strong mental acuity and communication skills
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job
- Other essential functions and marginal job functions are subject to modification
