The News & Advance has an opening for a reporter to join our newsroom. We provide a friendly, team-based environment that is ideal for journalists looking for growth and opportunity. The ideal candidate should excel in engaging with the community, developing story ideas with an eye for key local issues and trends, and writing clean, fact-based, opinion-free copy on deadline. Experience with photography and videography is preferred but not required; we offer training opportunities for enthusiastic learners.

Previous newspaper experience is preferred, but entry-level candidates with college experience will be considered.

You must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Lynchburg is located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia. It has a thriving downtown and arts scene, a minor league baseball team, and is one of the best places anywhere to get outdoors for running, hiking, biking, and canoeing.
