Job Summary
What's the job?
NOTE: The individual for this role must be flexible with work hours as he/she will provide leadership coverage on the weekends and off- shifts, as needed.
Supervises the daily activities of the maintenance personnel and provides key leadership to safety, quality, housekeeping, and cost reduction while promoting positive employee relations within the maintenance team. The supervisor is directly responsible for providing accountability for proper tools, compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Directly supervise the hourly maintenance employees in the improvement and maintenance of plant equipment, buildings, machinery, utilities, etc. Communicate expectations, measure and assess employee performance, and provide coaching and development of employees.
- Actively promote a safe working environment focused on full compliance with all safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations. Ensure that personnel are adequately trained to perform their duties safely. Responsible for safety management including completion of periodic safety audits/inspections, safety meetings, thorough investigation of incidents, and evaluation of training needs.
- Assist in the interviewing/selection process.
- Provide technical support during the training process and perform periodic skills assessments to ensure performance standards are met.
- Trouble-shooting, planning & scheduling, technical support to the maintenance team, procurement of parts, coordination and supervision of outside contractors.
- Leads the shift safety meetings and training sessions that have been developed by the training coordinator.
- Report all EH&S incidents - Injuries/Recordable, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
- Conduct EHS and SMAT Audits to support the plant's EHS goals.
- Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Participate in the development, understanding, and review of all position job safety assessments and standard operating procedures.
- Maintains workplace organization to ensure good housekeeping (5S) by holding employees responsible for their assigned work areas.
- Reviews and approves employee timekeeping (UKG).
- May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Required Qualifications
What do you bring?
- 4 year degree preferred (equivalent experience may be considered).
- Previous Supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient in use of MS Office (familiarity with UKG and SAP a plus).
- General understanding of ISO methodology (EX: ISO 9001).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S & Six Sigma a plus.
