Maintenance Specialist-System Owner

The System Owner - Maintenance Specialist System Owners are responsible for the overall health and reliability of the equipment within their system. They share responsibility for developing, monitoring, and revising the Maintenance Strategy on their systems. They also have responsibility for creating and managing system budgets. All of these responsibilities require System Owners to work closely with all department's as required actions are identified and implemented.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Review new Work Orders daily; communicate with the planner if any changes are needed.
- Perform physical walk-downs of the system (at a minimum once a week)
- Initiate new Work Orders as required to address needs.
- Participate in prioritizing and ranking all work orders for the system.
- Monitor work activities on the system.
- Review closed work orders to identify possible follow up work needed.
- Participate in the weekly planning meetings. Be prepared to present justification for work on the system being planned in future week schedules.
- Identify and maintain O&M budget requirements on the system and sub-system.
- Monitor financial spend on system and sub-system to accurately project monthly budgets.
- Update monthly budget projections and assist with updating the budget and business plans.
- Balance budget and reliability needs by approving / disapproving or rescheduling of work orders.
- Assess equipment obsolescence and provide alternatives to ensure future plant reliability.
- System owners are responsible, through fleet-wide initiatives and established processes, for developing, monitoring, and revising the maintenance strategy. This includes the approval process through the plant review board (PRB) and Maintenance Strategy Governance process.
- Optimize Warehouse inventory for the System.
Job Requirements
Education
- Chapter 12 Contract Administration Training is a preferred.
- LOTO Coordinator Certified
Safety STEP Observer Trained strongly preferred
Experience
- Plant Operation or maintenance experience
- Proficiency in Maximo and the Purchasing Process
- Budget management experience preferred
- System Owner experience preferred
- Lockout tagout experience
- The ability to communicate and work effectively in teams with varied individuals (craft personnel, supervisory, staff, and management) is required.
- Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative is required.
- Ability to interface with vendors and contractors while representing the best interests of Southern Company.
