The Infrastructure Principal Architect role is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive infrastructure solutions that encompass Compute (including virtualization), Storage/Data Protection, Datacenters, Cloud Computing, and Observability. You will work closely with McKesson Technology cross-functional teams and report directly to the VP of Infrastructure. This role requires an extensive understanding of infrastructure and architecture principles, and the ability to translate requirements into innovative & robust technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions that align with business goals and technology strategies.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure architecture blueprints, standards, and best practices for infrastructure platforms.
• Ensure observability is integrated into infrastructure solutions for proactive monitoring and management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Provide expert guidance to the infrastructure team and other technical staff.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance infrastructure capabilities and performance.
• Collaborate with the cyber security team to ensure that infrastructure solutions comply with security standards and best practices.
• Participate in the budgeting and planning process for infrastructure projects.
• Communicate effectively with senior management, providing updates on project status and infrastructure initiatives.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence aligned to McKesson's i2Care and iLead values to ensure development and growth.

Education/Training:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree or professional certifications in related areas preferred.

Minimal Requirements & Skills:

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in infrastructure architecture and design.
• In-depth knowledge of architecture principles and methodologies.
• In-depth knowledge of Azure cloud and compute platforms (servers, virtualization), storage & data protection technologies, disaster recovery / cyber resiliency and datacenters.
• Knowledge of current and emerging infrastructure technologies and solutions.
• Proven experience with observability tools and practices.
• Strong understanding of network protocols and security principals.
• Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional projects and initiatives.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels across the organization.
• Knowledge of ITIL and IT Service Management is a desirable.
• Relevant certifications in Azure or related technologies are a plus.
• Good understanding of financial principles and budget practices.
