Job Profile SummaryProvide first line of defense risk leadership, oversight and support over business unit segments assigned in the execution of governance and reporting-related. Collaborate with leadership, second line of defense program owners and other applicable areas of the bank to develop procedures and guidance for consistently executing risk program deliverables. Facilitate routines to drive consistent execution of key risk framework components as delegated by LOD2 risk programs. Assist Governance and Controls Organization business line management with identifying, assessing, controlling, mitigating, and communicating risks associated with business processes and decisions for the GCO.

- Develop and maintain comprehensive, risk-based guidance across business unit GCO teams, including defining key roles and activities involved in the execution of governance and reporting risk programs to ensure consistent and effective execution, compliant with Truist’s policies, processes and procedures.
- Coordinate governance and reporting-related mitigation or remediation activities across the GCO organization, where appropriate.
- Partner with GCO Leadership in the development and socialization of best practices for risk reporting, management of Business Unit Risk Committees and related working groups, and administration of regulatory exams and regulatory updates.
- Develop relationships and partner with BU Chief Risk Officer, Audit, Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, Legal and other 2nd Line Risk areas to understand and convey Risk Program requirements, and to ensure accurate and comprehensive risk management practices across the GCO organization.
- Document and maintain cross-GCO governance and reporting program guidance, including processes, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support evaluation of control weakness or key indicators exceeding risk limits for the GCO organization and perform root cause analysis.
- Build a working knowledge of the GCO’s strategic plan, key objectives, risk appetite statements, and RSCA process to understand the risks identified and controls applied to mitigate them to execute ad hoc risk management initiatives and controls testing.
- Assist in the detection of emerging and/or under recognized risks across the GCO.
- Demonstrate Truist’s risk culture.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Communications or equivalent education and related training.
2. Six to eight years of experience in financial services, risk, and or other assurance/compliance related role or equivalent experience.
3. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and interact with all levels of management.
4. Strong knowledge and leadership skills and the ability to own projects and drive process change.
5. Ability to manage implementation of risk program requirements over multiple LOBs.
6. Independent thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to make decisions.
7. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
8. Ability to operate in an independent manner without close supervision.
9. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. MBA or advanced degree.
2. Five+ years of Risk experience.
3. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or equivalent advanced risk certifications Operational and regulatory knowledge of financial institutions; retail banking preferred.
