Job Summary
The Michigan Medicine Department of Neurology is seeking a Financial/ Business Analyst to join our dynamic team. As one of the first neurology departments in the country, we have provided generations of physicians and scientists with the knowledge, skills and compassion necessary to provide high-quality patient care. This role will specifically support financial management in the Department of Neurology.
Responsibilities*
- Approval of CONCUR reports, journal entries and DBEs. Oversees recharge rate development/process SUBs.
- Coordinates department's objectives for faculty effort certification, providing annual reports for review. Facilitates and processes faculty merit program. Applies expert-level knowledge while facilitating MOU agreements with other departments and VA regarding funding.. Prepare faculty salary reviews for CDA/Chair.
- Internal Controls: Leads annual process review. Determines each year's focus and presents to management for implementation. Reports procedure concerns to department leadership. Trains and educates faculty and staff on new procedures as they relate to procurement work flow and procedure changes. Assigns and delegates tasks to subordinates when necessary.
- Manages department commitments, discretionary funding.
- Assists department leadership in making decisions that impact the department to a significant degree in regards to internal controls, budgets, procurement processes and staffing. This has measurable impact on department operations. Works autonomously, applying expert-level judgment to assure administrative staff are applying appropriate course of action as it relates to university policies while aligning with department objectives.
Required Qualifications*
- 5+ years (Senior) of professional experience related to Finance and/or Benchmarking
- 2-5 years (Intermediate) of professional experience related to Finance and/or Benchmarking
Desired Qualifications*
- Familiarity with medical school department functions and operations
- Good rapport with faculty, colleagues, and management.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
