ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Sigma Technologies is in need of field technicians. You would perform a variety of tasks in support of outside plant design for power and telecom companies. Having a basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used in the field and you'd need to rely on established guidelines, processes, and procedures to perform the functions of the job. You would be expected to apply experience and knowledge to provide solutions when guidelines will not meet expected outcomes and be able to recommend new and/or improvements to documentation where needed.
Initial Travel Expectations: This position does require overnight travel during the week. Work areas are to be in the Central and Southern Michigan. Work area may change over time, depending on client needs.
As a Field Technician II, your daily life may include:
- Executing work orders for the fielding of infrastructure while meeting quality, time, and budget constraints
- Collecting data by visually identifying, inspecting, and recording equipment and structures in the field
- Mapping data collected and applying established fielding guidelines, processes, and procedures
- Interacting with customers to perform walkout kickoff/scope meetings and/or to assist in the preparation of bid documentation
- Performing research to identify pole ownership, right of way, property rights, and permit requirements for proposed
- Communicating with outside parties to obtain right-of-way approvals and easements
- Provides guidance to others for specific duties in software, processes, and procedures
- Provides quality control review
- MUST HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE!
- Other duties as assigned
Upon offer acceptance, newly hired Associates are required to come to our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH for an initial 2-week in-person paid orientation and training period.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- EXPERIENCE: Prior experience is required
- The ability to read and comprehend engineering schematics is preferred
- Knowledge of construction and planning procedures
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- The ability to work in all weather conditions
- A willingness to travel overnight during the week as necessary
- Dependable transportation and valid driver's license and insurance that meets our minimum requirements
- The ability to pass a background check/drug test/driving record check
- Being computer literate and comfortable using programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Authorized to work in the United States
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to endure frequent/lengthy: Driving, standing, walking long distances (5 miles or more in a day), navigating rough terrain on foot, and lifting/balancing objects that may weigh up to ~40 lbs. and require the use of upper extremities and back muscles; work in proximity to moving vehicles in the right of way.
- Must be able to endure sitting for prolonged periods of time, including driving in a vehicle.
- Must have the physical ability to perform activities such as visually identifying, inspecting, and measuring objects as well as transcribing notes in proximity to moving vehicles in the right of way; these activities require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Must have the physical ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, often in a group setting.
- Must have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
