Job Overview
The Event Services Manager proactively manages the daily functions of the Events Department to ensure a seamless, exceptional guest experience. In this role, you will support and guide the banquet team, Catering and Convention Services team, Convention Services floor, and Banquet Beverage, while maintaining strong communication with all hotel departments. Your leadership and commitment to service will help create memorable events and a positive impact on our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Banquet Department Leadership: Support and manage the Banquet Department in collaboration with the Food and Beverage Director and other departments, with oversight of Convention Services Set-Up and Banquet Beverage.
- Team Supervision: Supervise, empower, lead, coach, and motivate the banquet team, including captains, food servers, and lead house attendants, to achieve exceptional guest service and complete team engagement.
- Event Setup and Standards: Oversee the setup and timely execution of functions and meetings while maintaining food, beverage, and meeting standards.
- Event Coordination: Collaborate with Culinary, Stewarding, Catering/Convention Services, and Beverage teams to ensure smooth and successful events.
- Creative and Decor: Develop innovative and creative décor for banquet function spaces.
- Administrative Oversight: Handle payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory, and budgets for food and beverage functions.
- Compliance and Safety: Perform walk-throughs in the banquet department and function spaces to ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt corporate standards.
- Special Event Development: Develop ideas for special events and holiday functions to enhance guest experiences.
Qualifications
- Full-time management position requiring flexibility, including the ability to work weekends, holidays, and a varied schedule.
- A true desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
- Refined verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in general computer knowledge.
- Creative, innovative, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Previous hotel experience with a thorough understanding of all levels of banquet service.
- Previous experience as an Event Services Manager/Assistant, Event Services Captain, or Event Services Supervisor preferred.
- Strong leadership qualities including high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivation, and effective communication.
- Exceptional developer and trainer with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
