As an Equipment Operator I, you will:
- Operate a variety of motorized equipment, including tanker trucks, vacuum trucks, dump trucks, and backhoes, to transport materials, tools, and personnel to job sites.
- Use specialized equipment to support essential City operations and assist in the repair and maintenance of sanitary sewer gravity and force mains and service laterals.
- Perform operational tests and inspections to ensure facility systems and components are running efficiently, including manholes and valves.
- Inspect and perform minor maintenance on motor equipment, reporting any issues to your supervisor.
What We're Looking For:
- A skilled Equipment Operator who knows how to use heavy machinery and hand/power tools to keep things running smoothly.
- A team player with the ability to respond to emergency situations, including inclement weather and overtime requirements.
- Someone with the ability to obtain a valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire and who's ready to put their experience to work for the City of Chesapeake.
