Applications are now being accepted for the position of:
Engineering Technician
FUNCTION:
Electric system technical evaluation, design, planning, data gathering, estimating, staking, and mapping.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Design of electric utility facilities.
2.Design of UG and OH systems for new developments.
3.Design new construction, upgrades, and replacements.
4.Creation of work orders and estimates.
5.Communicate and meet with customers to address concerns, requests, deficiencies, service problems, and outage planning.
6.Interface with other City departments and other governmental entities.
7.Attend City planning meetings and provide review of various submittals.
8.Gathering of field data for engineering functions.
9.Staking of electric facilities.
10.Research legal documents for easements and property descriptions.
11.Mapping and inspection of electric utility equipment.
12.Assist in the development and revisions of construction standards and engineering reference material.
13.Evaluate and recommend construction and operating practices.
14.Assist with system restoration due to storms, failures, and abnormalities.
15.Subject to emergency response after normal working hours.
16.Know, understand, and follow GEUS safety rules, policies, and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
1 High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
2 Electric utility related experience.
3 Working knowledge of electrical theory.
4 Proficiency in use of tools and equipment appropriate to job responsibilities.
5 Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management as well as customers, City and state personnel, and personnel from other utilities.
6 Working knowledge of NESC and NEC rules and regulations, safety rules, and APPA Safety Manual.
7 Proficiency with standard PC software including MS Office soft
8 Valid Texas drivers license.
