Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country's most challenging technical problems. Position Overview

Riverside Research is seeking tech savvy energy program managers to join our team of advisors supporting the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). We're looking for an expert in battery technologies who can provide technical expertise and programmatic support relevant to defense and intelligence applications in various Energy domains. Subject matter expertise in a field of engineering and or science is required. The position will collaborate with teams of programmers, scientists and engineers, and is based in Mountain View, CA (alternate locations: Austin, TX; Boston, MA; Washington DC)

Responsibilities

  • Lead collaborative teams in the design, execution, and management of projects focused on applying and integrating innovative commercial energy solutions to DoD and other government problem-sets to demonstrate value to end users on compressed timelines
  • Provide battery subject matter expertise to support prototype projects in a myriad of technological fields related to operational energy and energy resiliency
  • Identify DoD problems that could be solved by commercial solutions and lead problem curation, acquisition, and funding strategies with diverse sets of endusers, stakeholders, and policymakers

  • Participate in outreach and collaboration with commercial, industry, academia, other non-traditional vendors, DoD entities, program offices, and technical subject matter experts from these communities

  • Apply knowledge of relevant DoD technology acquisition and RDT&E services, as well as commercial best practices

  • Manage relationships between DoD stakeholders, DoD and IC innovation ecosystems, and commercial entities required for successful program execution.

Qualifications

Required:

  • TS clearance and ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI
  • Education in an engineering or scientific field or business
  • 12 years experience with a Master's Degree in a technical/engineering field (e.g. engineering, mathematics, computer science) or business (e.g. MBA). OR 15 years of experience in project or program management supporting research and development programs and national security missions with a Bachelor's Degree
  • Certification(s) in relevant technical and/or management-related fields
  • Existing knowledge of battery supply chains and manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience with DoD contracting process; working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation

Desired:

  • Prior military experience that allows the candidate to curate problems and define requirements with military end users
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and interpersonal and client-handling skills
  • Ability to work independently in a matrixed organization while
  • Prior experience developing and executing R&D prototypes for government clients (DOD, DOE, etc.)
  • Prior experience supporting and leading government and commercial vendor collaborative teams to rapidly iterate and deliver project tasks and milestones

Global Comp

$150,000 - $250,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
