Description
Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, is seeking an associate with three to four years of employment defense experience to join our nationally prominent, Chambers and Legal 500ranked Employment and Labor practice.
We are looking for candidates who are excited about taking on more responsibility. Ideally, candidates will have experience in a wide variety of employment matters, including litigation defense of wage and hour class actions, discrimination and retaliation matters; drafting motions for summary judgment and other dispositive motions; and advising clients on company policies and procedures and on key legal risks involving client employment practices. Experience drafting employment agreements and developing and implementing training programs and auditing programs for employers is a plus. Excellent legal writing and research skills are required.
Employment works collaboratively across offices and industry sectors. It provides services for both large and small corporations in a variety of industries, including entertainment, health care, financial services, retail and manufacturing. Our Employment group represents clients in a wide array of legal issues, including litigation defense of complex wage and hour class actions, discrimination and wrongful termination cases, tort and contract actions, workplace securityrelated litigation, and lawsuits containing trade secret and unfair trade practice claims.
In addition, our attorneys regularly advise on a wide range of transactional matters, including employee handbooks, policies, procedures, agreements, training and counseling. Our attorneys provide crisis management services and conduct investigations. They also regularly conduct webinars and seminars, participate in speaking engagements, produce a weekly newsletter, and serve as media sources for cutting-edge developments in employment law.
Requirements
- Three to four years of solid employment experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication and advocacy skills
- Excellent legal research and analytical skills
- Effective and efficient problemsolving capabilities with the ability to work independently and proactively, and to develop creative solutions to meet client and team needs
- California bar membership in good standing

Salary
The base annual pay range for this role is between $250,000-$295,000. The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience, location and will also take into account internal equity. Additional medical, financial and/or other benefits will be offered dependent on the position.
