We are looking for you to join our team as an Embedded Software Manager 2 based out of Linthicum, MD.
Summary of role:
This position will be based in our Maritime Electronic and Information Warfare operating unit with a focus on developing new electronic warfare systems to support the needs of the US and allied navies. Specifically, this role will be the IPT lead and CAM for the Scaled Onboard Electronic Attack program and will include EVMS, stand up and oversight of agile development teams, organization and forecasting of technical work, collaboration with a software architect on the technical designs and solutions and the documentation of system requirements and design.
As a Software manager you are responsible for overseeing and coordinating the people, resources and processes required to deliver new software or upgrade existing products as well as managing people, executing performance reviews, staffing programs, and career development of employees.

• Software manager plans, directs and coordinates all activities related to the software team:

• Provide technical oversight of design, development, and integration of software components

• Support the team in identifying and addressing impediments to the attainment of goals, including taking action to remove impediments where appropriate

• Drive sustainable continuous improvement, including by collating and deriving insights from data

• Generate proposal and estimates inputs for new work

• Act as a Control Account Manager (CAM) using Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

• Lead the team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools using Agile development methodology

• Develop and guide the team in compliance of a Software Development Plan (SDP)

• Coordinate with other disciplines when needed such as Systems and Hardware and Program Management

• Candidate must have strong communication and people leadership skills

Software managers also manage a group of up to 15 direct reports:

• Set attainable goals

• Execute performance reviews

• Guide the employees regarding career development

• Support teams or individuals to improve performance and achieve goals through coaching and mentoring

• Provide Flowdown and direction from upper management and the organization

Basic Qualifications:

• U.S Citizenship

• An Active DoD Secret Clearance

• Experience as a Software Engineering/Development Team Leader

• Experience with Agile software development methodologies

• 9 years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline; 7 years with Masters; 4 years with a PhD, or an additional four years of experience in lieu of degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of VxWorks and Linux operating systems

• Experience developing software for radar or electronic warfare systems

• Prior software functional management experience (executing performance appraisals, staffing allocations, software process leadership, and career goals development)

• Management of budget for technical activities using earned value management

• Familiarity with configuring and optimizing Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket

This position is contingent upon successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $145,000 - $217,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
