The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Duke University is recruiting for an Assistant Professor level faculty member to join the division as a member of the Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI). The candidate will work primarily within the Duke Vaccine and Trials Unit (DVTU). Led by Dr. Emmanuel "Chip" Walter and associate director Dr. Michael Smith, chief of pediatric infectious diseases, the DVTU unit has a rich history of NIH-, CDC- and industry-sponsored trials. It is anticipated that approximately 20% of the candidate's effort will be clinical and 80% will be designated as research time.
Initially, the candidate will serve as a co-investigator for existing vaccine clinical trials. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain independent research funding within two years. Qualified candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent, be board-certified or board-eligible in pediatric infectious diseases, and have experience with vaccine clinical trials. Start date is negotiable, but approximately July 1, 2025.
The Duke Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is comprised of internationally-renowned experts in the molecular, translational, and clinical research of infections and the clinical management of these illnesses in children. The division consists of 17 full or part-time faculty (MD, MD/PhD, or PhD), and has trained pediatric ID fellows for over 40 years.
