KPMG Lakehouse
The Director of Events manages overall Event Planning operations including mentoring and development of Event Managers and the Event Concierge teams. Areas of emphasis include on-going training of staff, stakeholder relationship management, achieving Lakehouse goals and other administrative duties. The Director should be proficient in all aspects of the Event Manager position.
Duties include:
- Responsible for short- and long-term planning and the management Event Planning
- Collaborate on and maintain occupancy forecast/budget and space utilization documentation for leadership to leverage for budgeting.
- Work closely with Chef and Food and Beverage Director on participant dining experience and customized menus.
- Train, mentor, and work with events colleagues, to plan and collaborate with KPMG planners and program stakeholder.
- Work closely with Banquet Manager and their team to create and ensure quality levels are being met on a daily basis as well as enhancing overall banquet set-ups
- Leads event team to build long-term, collaborative stakeholder relationships that enable achievement of Lakehouse objectives
- Administer all phases of the event department, including but not limited to planning, space optimization, servicing, and administrative procedures
- Partner with KPMG leadership to continue to evolve the collaborative planning process between the KPMG Events & Meetings team and the Event Planning Manager.
- Coach and counsel colleagues to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
- Manage the recruitment and hiring of all event managers and support staff
- Supervision of the use of Hyatt’s systems, uphold all legal and risk practices and uphold all company procedures associated with managing these systems.
- The Director of Events reports directly to the General Manager with oversight by KPMG’s Director of Strategic Event Delivery.
- Proactively anticipating group and guest needs and implementing innovative solutions to exceed expectations
- Effectively manage problem resolution for stakeholders, groups and guests
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- 6 years or more of progressive hotel Event Planning experience (typically with Hyatt)
- Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
- At least 3 years’ experience in a senior role in Event Planning environment
- Hotel/Hospitality degree is an asset
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) is an asset
- Must possess the following strengths: high energy, motivational leader, effective communicator, thrive in dynamic environment, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
- Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Hyatt proprietary systems
- Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
- Maintain communications with Hyatt corporate team
- Ideal candidate is a self-starter, accountable and self-sufficient
- Must be a caring leader who builds trust and engagement by cultivating genuine relationships
- On property position, flexible work hours/days, some nights, and weekends, when necessary, based on business and staffing needs
- Knowledge of conference services, pro-active planning practices and event operations.
