Job Summary
The Real Estate and Asset Development Team at the MBTA is responsible for fare programs, parking and station access, partnerships, and other emerging opportunities to generate sustainable value for the MBTA and its customers. To facilitate rapid growth and improvement, the team needs a full-time Deputy Director of Advertising and Revenue Programs to manage and drive a portfolio of customer-focused public-private partnerships (P3s). This position performs a combination of analysis, project and vendor management, and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities include managing and expanding existing programs and identifying and pursuing new opportunities to work with private partners to support the T's mission. The team will rely on the Deputy Director of Advertising and Revenue Programs to help improve how the Authority drives value from its commercial programs in order to provide best-in-class and sustainable transportation services.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the outside vendors who administer the MBTA's advertising programs. This includes enforcing the terms of the contracts, ensuring excellent business processes, and working collaboratively with the vendors to identify and execute on opportunities for growth.
- Work collaboratively with external stakeholders including municipalities and other agencies to support the deployment and ongoing management of commercial infrastructure including street furniture and customer information panels.
- Develop presentation-quality reporting and develop insights from the data analysis to better understand the MBTA's advertising programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop public presentations detailing the MBTA's commercial efforts.
- Track telecommunications, advertising, and other revenue-generating industry trends and best practices and identifying opportunities for the MBTA to leverage these best practices.
- Supervise occasional audits of the MBTA's outside vendors.
- Ensure that MBTA policies and standards are met
- Answer related questions from members of the public, stakeholders, and coworkers.
- Work with MBTA departments and stakeholders to identify, analyze, and implement public-private partnerships.
- Develop policies, procedures, and partnerships to more efficiently execute on organizational priorities.
- Uphold the rights and interests of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with employees.
- Lead and project manage procurements on behalf of the team.
- Assist in the management of a workforce by ensuring the fair and consistent application and strict adherence to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the Authority including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight deadlines
- Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability goals.
- Work in collaboration across the organization to develop consensus and communicate decisions.
- Perform related duties and projects assigned.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business, Finance, Urban Planning, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, or related field.
- Five (5) years' experience in financial services, contract management, project management, management consulting, or related fields.
- Two (2) years of leadership, supervisory, and/or management experience.
- Demonstrated effective organizational, analytical, quantitative, qualitative skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, take direction, and work independently and to use creative, collaborative, and consultative approaches to resolve issues.
- Advanced expertise in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The ability to pass the MBTA Advanced Excel and PowerPoint test.
- The ability to supervise and work effectively with a diverse workforce.
- Four (4) years expertise with Microsoft Outlook and Excel, ability to write formulas that draw information across sheets and make conditional formatting rules (vlookup, index/match, and pivot tables).
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated strong analytic and problem-solving skills, including ability to QA own work.
- Ability to learn and use productivity tools like Slack and Asana.
- Demonstrated ability to organize data and exercise effective problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented manner.
Substitutions Include
A High School Diploma or GED with an additional seven (7) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor's degree requirement.
An associate degree from an accredited institution an additional three (3) years of directly related experience substitutes for the bachelor's degree requirement.
A master's degree in a related subject substitutes for two (2) years of general experience.
A nationally recognized certification, or statewide/professional certification in a related field substitutes for one year of experience.
Preferred Experience and Required Skills- Prior work experience in government or the public sector or a supportive industry
- Knowledge of and experience in the MBTA's service district

- Ability to work all shifts and / or locations assigned, directed, or necessary for this position, including (for some transit / operations roles) up to twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week as necessary to accommodate severe weather conditions, emergencies, or any other circumstances that may potentially impact service or the safety of service
