WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Delmarva Fire and Fuels Crew Manager will oversee logistics and coordination of the day-to-day activities of the 3-person Delmarva Fire and Fuels Crew. The Crew Manager participates in prescribed fire activities, including burn unit prep, fire operations, managing staff and volunteers, maintenance of equipment and supplies, mop up, and monitoring. They will participate in the restoration of fire-adapted landscapes which may include timber stand improvement, vegetation management, fuels reduction, and monitoring. They may also assist in general preserve stewardship activities such as preserve monitoring and maintenance, building and facilities maintenance, maintaining tools and equipment and other tasks. May perform other land management duties when conditions are not conducive to prescribed fire.

As part of the employees ongoing professional development, they will be responsible for keeping abreast of new burn techniques, land management practices, and equipment to enhance skills and maintain/grow professional fire certification credentials. In addition, they shall work to build and maintain relationships in the professional fire and conservation community and in the local community where the Conservancy works.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • More than 3 years training in fire operations or other science-related field or related experience in land management or similar field.
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in land management and natural resource conservation.
  • Firing Boss Qualified
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to evaluate inputs in a rapidly changing work environment and make decisions that affect the safety and work of firefighters within squad.
  • Other training which supports development of knowledge and skills: ATV Safety and Operations, S-212 Wildland Chainsaws, S-211 Portable Pumps and Water Use. Preference will be given to those with higher qualifications (above FFT1).
  • PC familiarity, including database knowledge, to maintain records.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

The position period is January 13, 2025 - May 23, 2025, and 40 hours per week. Housing is provided and located in Rehoboth Beach, DE.


AUTO SAFETY POLICY

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC's Auto Safety Program.

Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.


SALARY INFORMATION

The pay for a candidate selected for this position is $24.32 for the hourly rate. This pay rate only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. This pay rate is based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. The geographic location for this position is Milton, Delaware.
