Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a Data Scientist you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response to optimize business results and customer experience to:
- Provides expert analysis and evaluations particular to AI application and capabilities, to include the following: work processes and policies; management practices; and work operations taking into full consideration complex legislative, programmatic and management issues and problems.
- Assesses the management efficiency and effectiveness of ASPR's AI initiatives; evaluates program policy, regulations, and laws; reviews proposed legislation; identifies vulnerabilities to fraud, waste and abuse; and applies data analytical techniques, research methods and risk methodology to identify, prioritize, and manage operational risks.
- Applies advanced, analytical, mathematical, or statistical theories, principles, concepts, methods and techniques to solve complex data problems, take full advantage of analytical resources (i.e., Agency software and hardware capabilities), and serves as a recognized authority and technical resource to leadership.

Qualifications
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORBasic Qualifications:
A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
AND
Specialized Experience:
Have one (1) year of specialized experience that is equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service which includes (3) of the (4):
- Defining program goals, developing strategic plans, and overseeing the execution of complex AI projects.
- Coordinating and leading cross-functional teams that include data scientists, machine learning engineers, software developers, and business stakeholders.
- Identifying potential risks and issues related to AI projects and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Ensuring that AI programs adhere to relevant guidelines and standards, and in addressing ethical implications of AI deployments.
