About the Role: As an Aquatic Center Control Room Technician, you'll be at the heart of the action, ensuring seamless aquatic events by operating:

As a Part-Time Aquatic Center Control Room Technician, you will actively apply these principles in all aspects of your work.
Job Duties
- Operate OMEGA sports equipment for swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, and water polo.
- Operate software for data handling, scoreboard operation, and video replay systems, as well as printers and copiers to support event needs.
- Operate walkie-talkies and other communication devices while performing "runner" duties, such as gathering information from timers and event staff on the pool deck.
- Assist in replacing event pool deck equipment.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Ability to:
- Operate database software applications.
- Apply standards, policies, and procedures associated with aquatic events.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide excellent customer service, and positively interact with a variety of people in a diverse work environment.
- Prioritize workload, adapt to changes, and provide high level of accuracy.
- Learn and master operation of Omega sports equipment and event management software within 2 months.
- Assist in emergency situations, including facility evacuations.

It Would Be Great If You Also Bring Experience:- Officiating or managing aquatic sports competitions.
- Operating sports management software such as Hytek
- Managing OMEGA sports equipment for swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, and water polo events.
- Controlling LED videowall scoreboards.
Supplemental Information
- Work Location: King County Aquatic Center, 650 SW Campus Dr., Federal Way WA. 98023
- Work Schedule: The work schedule for this position varies based on the schedule of aquatic events and the employee's availability. Events at the Aquatic Center are typically on the weekends, however some may start earlier in the week on Wednesday. The Part-Time Control Room Technician can expect to will work an average of 17 hours per week.
- FLSA Status: This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is overtime eligible.
- Union Representation: This position is not represented by a union.
- Duration: This recruitment aims to fill a Short-Term Temporary (STT) position working up to 960 hours per year. NOTE: King County employees can only hold one position at a time, i.e., holding multiple temporary positions or a regular position and a temporary position at the same time is not permitted.
- Physical Requirements include the ability to:
- Sit, stand, step up onto a 12" high elevated stage, and walk for shifts up to 12 hours.
- Regularly operate swimming-related equipment and computers for extended periods of up to 4 hours at a time.
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Tolerate loud sounds (officials using whistles and stadium music played over the PA system).
- Work under overhead LED lighting up to 200 footcandles, with brief moments of flashing light patterns.
