The Business Manager partners with the Executive Director, Site Operations for the assigned team to lead and execute key strategic and operational business initiatives, aligning strategy with the portfolio of initiatives, driving strategic project management at the site, and developing a business and cultural roadmap. Focus areas for this position include but are not limited to providing thought-leadership support to the Site Leadership Team, leading critical functional unit analyses and insights, developing strategic presentations for business reviews and meetings, and facilitating strategic meetings, including customer-facing interactions, organizing, and conducting leadership meetings, tracking financial metrics, and communicating the vision and strategy of the organization through business steering. The position holder may directly and/or indirectly lead talent in Global Supply to meet or exceed defined sales and marketing targets and key priorities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Spearheads strategic direction setting and execution:
- Advises and supports the ED, Site Operations regarding defining strategic and operational direction across the portfolio to achieve priorities and financial targets.
- Drives, measures, and communicates organizational initiatives.
- Develops corrective actions, measures, business cases, and proposals for critical strategic and executional topics to ensure topics are "decision ready" for the ED, Site Operations.
- Develops and monitors functional KPIs.
- Provides input into function Talent Management.
Participates as an active member of the leadership team:
- Provides leadership, organization, and strategic focus to the daily operations of the group.
- Designs, leads, and facilitates for Leadership and Director level meetings to ensure Strategic focus of the business and cultural advancement.
- Owns the development and dissemination of Leadership communications.
- Responsible for follow-up and resolution on action items.
- Handles incoming inquiries and develops action plans to manage and resolve issues of misalignment and/or escalation.
- Acts as an active "Champion of Change" looking to promote a winning vision that is consistent with the site strategy by identifying the best approach for implementing process improvement that are sensitive to the diverse needs of the site, our customers, and our employees.
Project Management:
- Drives the portfolio of site strategic initiatives.
- Steers project management initiatives to deliver key priorities e.g., cost savings, portfolio strategy, productivity improvements, external partnerships, compliance with corporate expectations on behalf of the ED, Site Operations.
- Develops metrics to measure progress against priorities.
- Liaises with Global strategy for local implementation of large scale, critical business projects with multi-year, multi-factorial timelines.
Leads for managing the annual operational and business planning processes:
- Establishes a consistent, repeatable business planning process for tracking strategy execution progress.
- Leads coordination and preparation of Annual Discussion, Long Term forecasts, Annual Business Review and US and global meetings.
- Partners with the Leadership Team to develop understanding and data on market dynamics (e.g., competitors, customers, technology), and identifies trends and opportunities.
Relationship Building:
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with all employees within the respective function for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness.
- Collaborates with and influences stakeholders and business partners to prioritize initiatives and goals and by working on projects that are pertinent to the operation of the function.
Leadership:
- May directly and/or indirectly lead up to three (3) Barceloneta Supply talents in support of key priorities and activities related to business systems design, analytics and reporting, development and integration of best practices, productivity/efficiency improvements, and stakeholder partnering within the Global Supply organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. MBA preferred.
- At least eight (8) years Animal/ Human Health industry knowledge (e.g., Consulting, marketing/sales, product development, business development) Including influencing or leading others.
- Global Supply Animal health / human pharmaceutical business experience, with experience in a customer facing or marketing role strongly preferred.
- Must have experience with advanced problem-solving and change management methodologies consistent with steering a quality culture mindset.
- Should be able to demonstrate project / program ROI results from previous experience.
- Persuasiveness and influence to successfully advise, facilitate, challenge, and build relationships as a trusted advisor with mid and senior executive levels. This is a high-profile position requiring a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated judgment and discretion to serve as a discussion partner on a broad range of management topics including sensitive issues.
- Project management experience and ability to oversee multiple projects running simultaneously and provide quality control and guidance on projects.
- Demonstrated ability to bridge strategic and operational thinking, translating strategy into operational tactics.
- Knowledge of change management tactics to create and communicate a vision of the future with the ability to drive for change and continuous improvement.
