Adapt Integrated Health Care is offering a $5,000 Signing Bonus for a Behavioral Health Consultant to join our multidisciplinary team in Primary Care!

Job Description:

As a Primary Care BHC, you will promote a strong belief in Adapt Integrated Health Care’s philosophy, purpose, and ideals. Thorough understanding of individual/family/social problems found in mental health and chemical abusing or dependent clients and their families; ability to establish therapeutic relationship with clients; working understanding of individual and group counseling; excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrate mastery skills on Dimensions for Counselor Competencies (skillful in complex clinical situations; able to design services; knowledgeable about issues relating research to practice). 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work as a member of our Primary Care team to screen, assess, evaluate level of care and diagnose behavioral health issues, including physical health, mental health, and substance use diagnoses.
  • Provide brief intervention or referral to specialty mental health and SUD services.
  • Provide crisis counseling.
  • Ability to work effectively with dually diagnosed patients, using both individual and family/group interventions.
  • Developed skills utilizing theoretical approaches known to be effective in working with a broad spectrum of presenting concerns, including physical health concerns, substance use disorder, and mental health issues such as depression, ADHD, PTSD, and anxiety disorders.
  • Facilitate groups using education, discussion, and group process.  Focus on emotional/social/family issues relevant to patients with mental health and/or chemical abuse/addiction problems.
  • Documentation according to agency policy.
  • Initiate and respond to necessary correspondence relevant to each patient, including consultation and treatment planning with primary care providers.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team that may include primary care providers and staff, other BHCs, case managers, and a psychiatric prescriber.
  • Staff cases bi-weekly with supervision group, supervisor and/or peers.
  • Provide supervision to trainees and those seeking individual licensure as needed.
  • Respond to QIC feedback as required.
  • Adhere to agency policies and protocols, including Ethics Statement.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-services as scheduled.
  • Perform as positive role model within agency and community. 
  • Facilitate optimum teamwork with peers and demonstrate positive working relationships with community partners.
  • Promote a Culture of Safety: reporting hazards, errors, and potential patient safety issues.

Additional Skills/Abilities:

  • Skill in communications that promote teamwork and collaboration with individuals served; written reports and correspondence that is both professional and informative; documentation that is clear and concise; use of motivational interviewing and other communication techniques and principles; an understanding of individual and group dynamics.
  • Plan, consult and coordinate with source agencies, physicians, families of clients and the community
  • Use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to assist individuals in being able to reduce barriers to treatment and recovery; adapt to the challenging needs of the agency and the population served
  • Remain calm and use good judgment during confrontational or high-pressure situations

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related behavioral health field required.
  • LCSW, LPC, or Ph.D.with extensive experience working as a counselor in a social service field required.
