Job Description
Virtus employs a comprehensive, dedicated multi-market and multi-channel distribution approach to access the broadest base of potential clients in the U.S. and select markets in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Experienced, channelized sales teams cultivate deep, diverse, and enduring relationships with financial advisors, consultants, and institutional and individual clients, supported by a centralized sales desk and associated functions including:
- National Accounts, which manages retail product availability and platform placement to deepen relationships with distribution partners, and Institutional Consultant Relations, which represents strategies and investment performance of affiliated managers with consultants who are gatekeepers to largest percentage of institutional clients.
- Marketing, which is tasked with differentiating our retail presence through one-point access to specialized managers and helping financial advisors build their practices using thoughtful market education to help clients achieve better outcomes; and
- Dedicated support staff in business intelligence, RFP/database management, digital marketing, and creative services.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position grows Virtus Investment Partners DCIO business by developing relationships with financial advisors who specialize in servicing defined contribution plans. This position will work to build and maximize Virtus’ market share by providing industry insights, effective practice management, and a deep understanding of investments. The candidate should possess a growth and entrepreneurial mindset to maximize the opportunity related to Virtus strategies in both mutual funds, CITS and SMAs. The position is based in the Midwest with coverage for Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana & Kentucky.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work to maximize DCIO sales in assigned geographic territory.
- Develop and sustain relationships with a targeted list of leading DC advisors within the region.
- Develop and sustain relationships with Centers of Influence with a focus on a target listed of most influential DC platform wholesalers.
- Proactive territory management.
- Efficiently manage and prioritize opportunities.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 or more years of retirement or investment experience with strong sales skills and product knowledge and established relationships within assigned territory.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Motivated and energetic with strong project management and selling skills, and the ability to drive objectives relatively autonomously.
- Extensive travel required.
- Required licenses: Series 7 or 6 and Series 63/65 or 66.
- Experience in the DCIO channel is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of equity, fixed income and alternative investment strategies.
- Deep understanding of the retirement marketplace as well as in-depth industry knowledge.
- A retirement resource for the retail wholesalers in the overlapping territories.
- Effectively contribute to a teamwork environment and actively share best practices.
Base Salary: $115,000
The starting salary offer will vary based on the applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible to participate in an incentive plan.
