A day in the life:

  • Assure plans and specifications are adhered to by monitoring inspectors and survey crew by conduction inspections, ordering and observance test and samples.

  • Assign work to subordinators and adjust assignments as required to meet schedules and staffing levels.

  • Direct and review contract administration functions by preparing reports, monthly estimations for payments and quantity and quality test reviews.

  • Review work of subordinates in process or upon completion.

  • Prepare engineering project budgets.

  • Lead, develop and implement project communication plan.

  • Train, counsel, resolve complaints with employees and carry out established personnel policies.

  • Review payroll, resolve any compliance issues and monitor subcontractor compliance.

  • Lead project scoping, development and review project plans.

  • Research and present technical reports.

Minimum qualifications:

A valid Professional Engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering.

Note: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain professional registration in Oregon within six months of hire.

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting construction contract plans, special provisions and standard specifications.

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and experience working as part of a team.

  • Experience problem solving to work through project issues as they develop.

  • Knowledge or experience in construction practices on public infrastructure projects.

  • Understanding of contract administration procedures.
