A Brief Overview
The Assistant Director leads and directs signature events supporting The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Conceptualizes, designs, produces and supervises events and programs responsible for generating approximately $500,000 annually as assigned by the Director, Special Events and Strategy.

The Assistant Director establishes and monitors corporate and organizational events and assists short- and long-term strategic planning for events for the department. As a frontline fundraiser for CHOP, this individual will also act as an ambassador for the Hospital and be able to work collaboratively with CHOP Foundation staff, in addition to key internal and external constituents - including physicians, clinical staff, executives, donors, and volunteers.

What you will do

  • Manages a fundraising event portfolio in excess of $500,000 that includes cultivation, stewardship and signature and community events.
  • Manages a consistent level of quality for assigned events handling specific logistics including but not limited to catering, audiovisual, decor, parking, invitations, and security.
  • Provides support to Director and Associate Directors of Special Events on signature events.
  • Represent the Hospital with a superior presence among volunteers, donors, executive leadership, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage constituent data in conjunction with the Gift Administration and Data Integrity teams to leverage reporting capabilities and inform fundraising strategy
  • Assists the Director of Special Events and Strategy and the entire department in reaching financial goals.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

Experience Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years management and development experience in event planning, special programs, and related fundraising activities Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to persuasively promote the Hospital's mission in patient care, program development, education, and research. (Preferred proficiency)
  • Strong written, presentation, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to relate well to individuals from diverse backgrounds. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstration of good judgment, professionalism, and the highest standards of ethical conduct. (Preferred proficiency)
  • Fast-paced and results-oriented with the ability to work in a timely manner with multiple deadlines and competing requirements. (Preferred proficiency)
  • Organizational and managerial skills involving administrative processes and in working with colleagues and support staff. (Preferred proficiency)
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a fundraising team. (Required proficiency)
  • Travel, local and regional, required. (Required proficiency)
  • Working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office a requirement with knowledge of Salesforce helpful. (Required proficiency)
