Position Description

The Application Developer will have proven commercial experience in the full development cycle of ASP.net and VB.net applications, covering .NET application design; database integration and development; testing and quality control; server management and architectural design. This person will work with the development team to develop new and support existing enterprise systems that enhance business efficiency and support operations.

This person will also take part in maintenance and support for various software applications including OpenText products and Microsoft financial packages. As projects vary in their nature and scope, it is crucial to manage various kinds of projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Design software and new procedures to incorporate recommendations into computer systems.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement additional software packages that improve efficiency or effectiveness of the functional business area.
  • Design, develop, modify, maintain, and implement programs for systems that support the requirements of the end-users.
  • Develop and maintain processing requirements and procedures.
  • Develop and execute plan for installing new releases of application, system, and developed software.
  • Maintain and execute application, system, and utility software security procedures.
  • Maintain database and application integrity with respect to system modifications and procedures.
  • Perform the role of a systems administrator.
  • Support IT Help desk for programming or system-related problems.
  • Troubleshoot and provide quality assurance for Applications, Business Processes and Systems.
  • Test and debug applications and programs.
  • Consult with team members to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.
  • Advise and collaborate with user departments to resolve specific problems or make changes in programs, computer applications, capabilities, alternative programming approaches, limitations, etc.
  • Initiate efforts to improve methods and practices within IS organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of application support or related project experience.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and current design patterns/practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Development Tools such as DevOps, Visual Studio, SSMS, SSRS is required.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of VB.NET, C#, and ASP.NET.
  • Proficiency in client-side browser technologies including JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
  • Experience with AJAX and writing Stored Procedures/Functions in SQL Server.
  • Experience with Azure development including but not limited to Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Understanding of relational database (SQL Server) design.
  • Experience with API Development and integrating with 3rd party APIs.
  • Experience with cloud-based intranet collaboration platforms like MangoApps is a plus.
  • Experience with XML, jQuery, Great Plains, OpenText products, RESTful APIs, Web API, securing web apps and API endpoints for SSO access, creating Windows services communicating with Windows applications, low-code development platforms, mobile app development are a plus.
  • Ability to interface with customers, provide support and training, lead requirement gathering and analysis efforts, manage multiple projects, and communicate effectively at all staff levels.
