Job Purpose

National Grid is seeking Pipe Handlers for our Central Territory which covers our yards in theWebster, Braintree, Dorchester, West Roxbury, Waltham, Hyde Park, & Leominster locations throughout Massachusetts.We are a major electricity and gas delivery company with one of the largest electricity transmission and distribution systems in the Northeast. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a good driving record and be focused on customer, personal and coworker safety. Pipe Handlers work within the natural gas side of the operation to provide timely and quality service to our customers while maintaining high customer service.

Key Accountabilities

As a Pipe Handler you will perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
Perform manual labor, including hand excavation, backfilling, handling of pipe, fittings, and materials and does other laboring work as required.
Operate paving breaker and rock drills and assist in operating tapping and stoppering equipment, heating and joining equipment for plastic pipe, and other equipment so assigned.
Successfully complete training of higher classification duties and obtain proper licenses

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
Must have good mechanical aptitude and ability, high degree of dependability, and capable of exercising good judgment.
Must pass Company physical and qualifying tests.
Must have Massachusetts Drivers License and be in good physical condition.
